Dear Members,
ATTO remains fully committed to leaving no stone unturned in its mission to seek support for our industry. This was clearly demonstrated yesterday afternoon when the Chairman and members of the Board met with Hon. Dr. Peter Agius, MEP, and Hon. Eng. Mark Anthony Sammut, MP, from the Nationalist Party. During the meeting, the EU MANIFESTO soon to be presented to the President of the European Union, was officially handed over to the Hon. Members.
The manifesto, drafted in collaboration with the Association of Tractors & Trailers Operators (ATTO), the Malta Chamber, the Malta Business Bureau, the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA), and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, calls on the European Parliament to revise existing road transport legislation. It highlights the unfair competition between mainland European countries and operators from island nations, who are at a disadvantage.
Both Hon. Dr. Peter Agius and Hon. Eng. Mark Anthony Sammut expressed their personal support, as well as that of the Nationalist Party, for ATTO’s pursuit of a fair balance between the rights of Maltese citizens and those of the wider European community.
The meeting was very cordial.
The Chairman and the Board Members thank the Honorable Members for accepting ATTO’s invitation to this cordial meeting.
